Piping gel is now available in a handy 120g size. Use piping gel as a glue, or as a stabiliser in whipped cream. You can colour piping gel with gel colours and create water effects if you need to make, say, a Barbie swimming pool cake from the Australian Woman's Weekly Birthday Cake Book. IYKYK.
Piping gel can also be used to adhere edible images to cakes and cupcakes. Lightly brush the backing of the edible image prior to putting it on the cake.
