The Bakels Red Velvet recipe mix has become a popular choice of cake in recent years, it's lovely chocolate and raspberry undertones make this cake a delicious dessert for all occasions.    Finished with a traditional cream cheese frosting is delightful on the taste buds.   

Bakels Red Velvet cake is also delicious with the Bakels White Truffle.   

Bakels Red Velvet recipe mix is adaptable for cakes and cupcakes which are a big hit with kids, both big & small!

Ingredients
 

1Kg Bakels Red Velvet Cake Mix

140ml Canola or Vegetable Oil

160ml Water

6 Eggs

 

Method
  1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees

  2. Combine eggs, water & 1kg red velvet cake mix on low speed for 1 minute

  3. Scrape down sides of the bowl

  4. Beat for 2 minutes on low speed, whilst adding vegetable oil and then beat for a total of 2 minutes, being careful not to overmix.

  5. Grease pan with Bakels Sprink

  6. Pour cake mixture into prepared cake pans or cupcake trays

  7. Bake in oven on 150-160 degrees for approximately 1-1½ hours or 20-25 minutes for cupcakes (Baking time & temperature will vary from oven to oven).

  8. Cake will spring back when ready or skewer will come out clean

  9. Allow to cool in pan for 30 minutes

Hints

Be careful not to overcook, cooking for longer at a lower temperature can help with this.

 

Cooking times vary for larger tins and cooking times vary with ovens.

 

Always grease & paper line tins.
