Easy DIY Easter Eggs

15 Feb 2018

Easter Eggs are often made from candy or chocolate and are traditionally given as gifts at Easter.  Personalised Easter Eggs are just that little bit more special and we’ve found a way to make them quickly and so easily even the kids can do it!

Piped Eggs

With a little Royal Icing you can create a design reminiscent of the old fashioned candied eggs (but without all that hard candy!).

Our Simple Piped Egg was created with:

Using the uncoloured Royal Icing in a piping bag with the tip 14, we piped a scallop style border around the long edge of our egg (it is useful to practice on a board or plate first to get used to the pressure and flow).

Switching to a 3 Tip (which is super easy to do when using a coupler) we then piped some small beads of Royal icing to form flower shapes on the front of the egg.  Small spots of coloured confetti made the perfect flower centres and added a little pop of colour.

Mixing a little green Americolor gel into the remaining Royal Icing and a 2 Tip, we piped a few straight lines between our flowers to form stems of the bunch.  Finishing back with our white Royal Icing in a simple piped bow.

Painted Eggs

Painted Eggs are a fairly traditional gift although usually they aren’t to be eaten.  Using Edible Art Paints you can create any design you like, right on the chocolate egg!

Our Cute Painted Egg was created with:

Edible Art paints are one of the very few products in the market that enable you to paint straight onto chocolate!  All you need to do is give them a really good shake (as most of the good stuff settles in the bottom) and get started!

You could paint stripes, spots, initials, the options are endless.  We decided to go with a cute little bunny.  We painted the initial shape in white then added in the pink details and finally painting on his little face and outlining the image in black.  Grass was added with some repetitive simple lines in pastel green with a few simple star flowers in pink and gold.

Sprinkle Eggs

If you don’t have the want or the time to make designs on your eggs, sprinkle them!  With so many amazing Sprinkle Pop Sprinkles available, the choices are endless with what you can create with a simple, store bought egg, some piping gel and sprinkles.

We created our bright and eye-catching egg by simply painting a small amount of piping gel over the egg (only where we wanted the sprinkles to stick) and then gently pushing on some  Sprinkle Pop Rainbow Road Sprinkles.  Allow it to dry and it is done!  For a little extra bling we painted the bottom of our egg with Glamourous Gold Edible Art Paint.

You could mix any or all of these techniques together to come up with a really attractive and  personal design.  Why not add in some gold leaf or even fondant shapes to the design?
