Sponge cakes are very versatile they can be an informal morning tea delight or birthday celebration cake, whichever the occasion and a chocolate sponge is a delicious accompaniment to a hot cup of tea. Baking a chocolate sponge is very easy with the Bakels Gluten Free Baking Mix and with the added bonus of being complete gluten free it is definitely going to be perfect for all your guests.
175g Eggs
60g Caster Sugar
15g Cocoa
15g Boiling Water
900g Bakels Gluten Free Baking Mix
5g Baking Powder
15g Butter (melted)
Beat Group 1 until thick
Mix Group 2 and add to the above
Add Group 3 and blend in
Add Group 4 and mix through
Oven temperature 170C
Baking time: 40 minutes (8" round), 30 minutes (6" round)
Remove from oven and let cool on tray
