A turntable is a pretty important piece of equipment if you decorate cakes. It makes all the difference in getting smooth sides on your cakes, but only if you have a good one. Some of them are bumpy and stiff, and that is going to hinder more than help. But with so many options available, which one is perfect for you? Never fear! One of our original turntables and it's easy to see why it has stood the test of time. It's very sleek looking, has a non slip pad on the base and spins like a dream. If you have completed a cake class with us, this is the turntable you would have used. The only small issue with this turntable is that if you have a large cake on it, the turnable can tip a little as the base is much narrower than the top. That being said, if you mostly do small cakes, this turntable might be the one for you! You can even use it to display your finished masterpiece on because it looks so smart :-)
If you are on a budget or just starting out in cake decorating, we highly recommend getting this one. Yes, it's made of plastic, which seems like it it's not as good as the metal ones, but this is a rather good piece of kit for the price point. It spins really well, even with a very heavy cake on top, and the non slip base is pretty much as wide as the top, which means it won't tip. This baby is not going anywhere! Having the handy brake feature is great, and because it's plastic it's easy to clean and lighter to move around. It's not a turntable to display your finished cake on, but with the money you save you could then buy yourself a pretty cake stand ;-)
These are a nice affordable option for a beginner. They are good looking and come in black or white. You can certainly use them to decorate on and then display the finished cake upon. The wide base makes it sturdy. Melamine is not as tough as stainless steel or cast aluminium, so they may not be quite as durable as some other options we have. The benefit of melamine over metal is that it's lighter though, and easy to clean.
Now this is a sexy turntable! How can a turntable be sexy you ask? Well, just take a look at what it does: it spins masterfully, even with really heavy cakes on top of it. It's solidly built and will last a lifetime. It has a very wide, non slip base that makes the turntable almost impossible to tip over. Yes, it's our most expensive one but once you make the investment, you won't regret it, I promise! One smooth spin and you'll be in love...
This is the cheaper cousin to our beloved 360 Pro. This is a great investment if you can't quite bring yourself to spend over $100 on a turntable. It spins smoothly and beautifully, has a non slip, heavy base, looks good and will make spinning your cake around a breeze. It's a weeny bit smaller in diameter than the 360 Pro, is heavier due to the solid base and maybe isn't quite as sleek looking, but it's still pretty sexy! You know, for a turntable ;-)
If you do a lot of piping, this might be the turntable to invest in. It's made of hard wearing melamine and has a nice wide base for perfect balance. Then, just by turning the neck of the turntable, the top tilts to make piping easier. It is non slip on the top so when it's tilted the cake won't slide off. As it's made in Germany, you know it's a high quality product. One word of warning: the non slip top is seperate to the base, so when moving the stand around, make sure to pick it up from the base and not just the top, as it's quite shocking when it comes apart and you're not expecting it!
These are useful if you don't really need the extra height that the above turntables give, but you need some nifty spinning action. They take up less space to store and are lovely and lightweight. We have two in stock: the Loyal Ultra Slim Turntable and the Fat Daddio's Low Line Turntable.
Cakes are not the only things that are easier to decorate when you can spin it around - cookies are too! No more accidental fingers in the icing and stuffing up your hard work as you turn the cookie around, just spin the turntable! It's also a much neater process to do the outline on a round cookie by spinning it rather than moving your hand. The more you know! We have three cute little turntables available:

This neat little turntable is 12.4cm in diameter, so if you tend to make smaller cookies, this might be a better option. It also comes with 2 non slip mats to stop those slippery suckers of cookies from flying away!
